Recycling Program

In conjunction with NGIV, Garden City Plastics & Polymer Processors have now initiated a nursery container recycling program. The first stage of the program is only available within Victoria.

The pilot program has been in operation since early 2009 with a mobile compactor picking up from wholesale nurseries within the metropolitan area of Melbourne. There is a minimum amount of approximately 2 cubic meters for each pick-up and no vacuum formed material is allowed.

You can also drop off any amount of pots during work hours (mon-frid 6am-5pm) or smaller amounts under 2 cubic meters in large bins at the front of the building at the following address (accessible 24hrs):

Polymer Processors
11 Japaddy St
Braeside VIC

Once consumer pots are collected, they are returned to Polymer Processors via transfer stations in a number of municipalities within the Melbourne metropolitan area. This recycled material is then returned to GCP and then re-made into plant containers. All black plastic pots are made from recycled polypropylene. Polypropelene is infinitely and 100% recyclable for use in nursery containers.

Pots no longer need to go into land fill. They are 100% RECYCLABLE!

How do I organize a collection?
Email us at vic@gardencityplastics.com or call your local GCP representative to arrange a pick-up. They will then call the recycling company with your details to arrange the pick-up closest to you.

How much will this cost me?
At the moment this is costing you nothing.

Do you accept Black and Colored pots/trays?
Yes, we accept all polypropelene plastic pots and trays.
